INNOVATIVE GIFT AID - Some new and exciting ideas !
GIFT AID ON RECYCLED CARTRIDGES
|
Introducing Gift Aid on Recycled Cartridges- an HMRC approved scheme developed by GAIN the Gift Aid Recovery Consultants, and in conjunction with Sense - the UK Deafblind Charity To donate your cartridges www.sense.gain.me.uk.
|
The potential annual market for recycling cartridges is around £19 million. There is an enormous opportunity for gaining additional revenue from this source. This is both from increasing the level of recycling as well as from Gift Aid recovered.
GAIN has obtained HMRC approval for Gift Aid on recycling and pioneered this along with charity partner, Sense. There is very little work involved for the charity and recycling company, and GAIN undertakes all the administration and Gift Aid compliance work.
GIFT AID ON CHARITY SHOPS
Charities can now benefit from Gift Aid in their Charity Shops
Normally the rules of Gift Aid do not allow income from goods donated to a Charity Shop to qualify for Gift Aid. GAIN have established a simple method, approved by HMRC, of claiming Gift Aid on goods donated to Charity Shops.
HOW IT WORKS The Charity appoints GAIN as its Authorised Agent in terms of the new directive from the HMRC. GAIN undertakes all aspects of the process including advice on the ticketing or other identification of goods to be sold, as well as co-ordinating and integrating the system into existing procedure.
Although this may appear to be complicated, it really is not very difficult. In fact, it can be as simple as removing and retaining the specially marked price tickets from goods donated by donors who have completed a Gift Aid declaration. (This only has to be done once by each donor, so there is no real onus on the donor either!). These are then handed over to us at GAIN for checking and processing, and all you as a charity have to do is sit back and wait for the additional income .

GIFT AID ON AUCTIONS
Gift Aid from Auctions is a procedure which is recognised by HMRC but it can be difficult to comply with HMRC's rules, especially the benefits requirements. There can also be issues relating to the valuation of the item, which can sometimes mean that items which are auctioned for a very nice price fall foul of HMRC rules and so cannot enjoy the additional Gift Aid benefit.
Our role at GAIN ensures that the items being auctioned are correctly valued, and the auction is properly structured to ensure that all HMRC regulations are adhered to, and that the additional income earned form Gift Aid is income is in line with all HMRC’s requirements. We also undertake all the administration and preparation and processing of the relevant paperwork, so your staff can focus on their core application - fundraising.
